Perfect day for a run. With the new baby I've had to squeeze in runs when I can so I knew I'd have to push the pace on this one. My miles through North O were faster than I planned for some reason so I just tried to hold on.

Ran with my friend Nichole, she ran beside me helping me through my first half marathons, and now I get the chance to run beside her as she comes back from a torn Achilles from last summer. Song of the day: "When t.he Saints Go Marching In" by Louis Armstrong. I had a memorable extended weekend in Louisiana. Southern hospitality is not a slogan, it is real. On the day after the race, I drove from Baton Rouge to New Orleans and took in a few hours of the rich culinary and musical traditions there before flying back home. The street musicians in the French Quarter were full of life and joyful. In their own ways, they paid tribute to New Orleans' most famous son, Louis Armstrong.
