I decided just before the race to wear my trail shoes instead of my normal race shoes despite Gary Wasserman saying Mopac was in good shape. I'm sure glad I didn't listen! It was ok until several hundred feet ran through that wet limestone and it became mud and muck! I was undertrained anyway and I really wanted to walk a few times on the way back, but I could feel if I walked, I wouldn't be running again. Just plodded along, but got it done! Results were nothing to brag about, but got it done...

Glad my wife still wanted to run this, as I didn't. Wasn't bad once we got going. Fun race, not the best conditions, but no excuses. I've got some work to do yet, but I'll get there. Just need to get the wheels to move again like they used to. Good to see and talk to some of the areas finest out there this morning as well.

There was a method to my madness this morning; I did an incline interval like thing. I increased the resistance, then incline (15°-30°, stepped by 5°), duration for each step went less each incline adjust, and resistance jump. Last one was me, grunting like a yeti, doing :30 @ 30° @ 16 (lucky I didn't poop myself).

45 minutes of stretching routines and strengthening exercises; threw in two extra sets of resistance banded side steps: hips were trembling @ the end. I'm going to have the strongest hips of all time.

A big step today. I dread the long run. I dread the cold. But, a challenge is right up my alley. :) Left Matt's house solo at 445. Did 5 miles solo in the steady rain (pellets to the eyes). Felt good though. Picked up Matt and ran to the Y and picked up Sue. With her for 4 miles. Then Matt and I back to his house, dropped him, and then the last 4 solo. I felt really good actually. Sue slowed us a bit, I really felt I could have gone quicker. It's probably best I didn't. Nice and easy. Piece of cake.

We did see a badger!! (BarbE) Right by the cemetery. Creepy little guy that Matt had to scare off as I darted into oncoming traffic.

Anyway, I look at this run as a good step in my successful marathon goal. Carolyn texted me and said I had grit. I think that's the best compliment I've ever had. :)

Had to bow out of State Farm watching. I am still frozen as a popsicle from being vastly underdressed this morning. Good Luck, Rain Runners!!
