Had a little water and a Gu and then headed out to explore Tallahassee. Legs felt pretty beat up at the start but loosened up after a few miles. Got lucky and found a park which led to a bike path which led to another bike path, all nicely paved and fairly flat (near our hotel it was very hilly). 16 miles solo. Started to run out of energy late but hung on well. Got back to the hotel just as Ed was heading out for a run, so I ran another 1.5 miles with him.

Miles 7 through 15 were all 8:32 or better. Miles 13 and 14 were 8:05 and 8:07.

Really good long run on tired legs.

Papillion [20161211]: Recovery w/ The Wife

Kids were @ my mom's overnight (we had a busy day yesterday, so a night w/o the kids, just April and I sounded great (we went to Office Christmas Party (it's pretty darn funny (IMO)))).

So, that meant April and I could run together this morning; and, that's just what we did. I feel like Nancy Kerrigan, that time she met Jeff Gillooly, but, whatever, I don't get to run w/ April too often, so shuffle run (BigSu style) it was. Darn nice out there this morning, too; 34° and no wind... nice!

Saw ZERO other people out; boo to that. Slackers.

Got home late Tuesday from Centura (famous alum Kaci), tired and didn't feel like going out in the cold so took a day off. That morphed into four days. Congrats to all the Hitchcock racers.

Highlight of this run was seeing Betsy! Thankful for no snow or ice; very little wind, and temps could have been a lot colder for mid December. Bad feeling this luck will be running out in the weeks to come :(

Song of the day: "So Far Away" by Carole King. PLEASE PLEASE go see "Beautiful: The Carole King Musical" at the Orpheum in April! I saw it in NYC a few years ago and got tickets to one of the upcoming Omaha shows. It is a wonderful story, fun music, and a rare opportunity to see a Broadway show here. If you haven't seen "Jersey Boys" either, it will be at the Orpheum also (in March), and I loved this one as well.
