I have always loved this race. I've never done the half before, it was tricky. I started way too fast. I was hurting by mile 5. Rough day. I'm not pleased with my race. I think life is leaving a bit of a mark lately. Not sure how I placed, but I know I got passed. A lot. It's ok. It's just a race. :)

Start is on the trail so it's a bit congested. Started in the middle of the pack with Ron and Rob and we picked off some people but didn't want to go too crazy given my groin issue. 7:02 first mile. There was a guy way out front. I wanted to see if I could run some half marathon pace (6:15) and groin was feeling ok so I left the guys. Was closing on the guy out front and ran 6:05/5:47 and passed him with a half mile to go. Felt a little cramp in my hamstring when I made the last turn. Groin started getting sore during cool down but not anything like the pain I felt Wednesday. Keep an eye on both issues. Won a Village Inn pie.

Warm up ok but just before start felt very light headed. Had a Gu which helped a little. Took it out a little easy trailing Christina, PDoon and mr race director. Quickly decided to go after it and hope for the best. Pushed the downhills. Worked the uphills and felt good doing it. Emptied the tank the last quarter mile, which is mostly downhill. Passed Christina just after 2 miles. Almost caught Paul at the finish. Good race.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING TO ALL!!

Tenth annual work out before you pork out Thanksgiving day run at the Z! Thank to hOg for the invite! It was so nice to see and visit with many folks I don't get to see very often. Started off on the west side with Rob, Ashley, Scott, Tim and others; on the east side it was just Tim and myself. Great to catch up with everyone!

Song of the day: "Grateful" by Beth Asbjornson. She is active in the Omaha music and theater scene, a wonderful person and friend, and my first vocal coach. "Grateful" is a song written by John Bucchino, off Beth's CD, "Gratitude". It is what I am feeling today. :)
