The bad news was that the Usual Suspects hurt the whole way. The good news is that they didn't slow me down. My poor fitness did that. But I know what to do about that.
The heat and fatigue did play a factor. I know this because my first mile was the fastest and that never happens. I logged the most number of steps in the past two years. That's a good thing too. I remember when I used to think that anything slower than an 8 minute mile didn't count. Karma can be a bitch.

Easy shake out with a few strides. So happy to be here in Bismarck! At the packet pickup today, the locals and race volunteers were very kind. And they get an A+ on swag: you get a nice technical long sleeve with a hood; a winter cap; AND a backpack...all with the Bismarck marathon logo. Then, for purchase I got last year's baseball cap, 2 pairs of running gloves and a cowbell for the grand total of 2 dollars!!

For those who asked, I did not see the Falls in Sioux Falls yesterday (nor did I renew my membership in the Su Falls Club). It was just an issue of time--I would have loved to seen the Falls, Mount Rushmore, the Black Hills and Wall Drug; and would have done these things if I had another day. I did enjoy the Badlands.
