Went to Boys Town as session 1 of the state meet was wrapping up. Ran some of the course and around the lake. Felt a bit lethargic...on my legs all day and more to come this afternoon.

2 up (literally), 4 at tempo (624,650,628,631), a few down. Got a boost from the downhill on 10th, but I may be running a downhill half in July and I've been told to train fast on downhills to get quad-ready.

Slept in and took this nice and easy. Good to get out there. Cruised my neighborhood and ran through The Preserve. Future home site, for sure!! Still feeling the effects of training, big time. This was welcome and nice though.

Got home and had bfast with the ladies. Then, the three of us for an extra .5 mile scouting the neighborhood feverishly for that little BEEP Charley. We found her! :/ That little dog is gonna be the death of me.

Now a bike ride with the chickies. :) Love Summer.

I really don't like this route, but, man, this was a great group this morning - Carl, Theresa, Dave, Jimmy, Justin, Hokie, Lindsey and Ashley.
As I was driving to PLC, lamenting the fact that we were running Big Fred's, I took a moment for give thanks for these runners and for those of you who I rarely or never get to run with. Thank you for being there. Truly.
Have a great weekend!

Omaha [20160520]: BFF of 9

A group of NINE out on Big Fred's, for a BFF!

GoHokies (possibly my first run w/ him in over a year), RunnerMomOf2, smilEy, BigSu, CoachGoz, justinmollak, BetzE, TopJimmy and myself; great morning!

Post-run, I was no longer a Clydesdale division member (I'm sure a glass of milk, a bunch of water and coffee will put me back in (but I'm taking small victories wherever I can)); keep the focus.

Thanks to you who offered kind words on my thoughts on the passing of Guy Clark in my post Wednesday morning. My write up did not just roll off the cuff after my run and before going to work. The previous night I typed it up, rewrote/revised it several times and printed it out so I could copy it to Ndorfnz Wednesday morning. Even that got a few final tweaks. The reason I am bringing this up is because Guy Clark had a lifetime legacy of perfecting his craft and I would do him a disservice if I didn't try to get my thoughts out coherently.

Song of the day: "That Old Time Feeling" by Guy Clark. A series of seemingly unrelated beautiful lyrical snapshots to reflect on...but they ARE related by the haunting "old time feeling". It is from his first album (and my fave album of his), "Old Number 1" from 1975. Also covered by his dear friend Jerry Jeff Walker, who recorded many of Guy's songs. I will leave you with the first verse:
"And that old time feeling come sneakin' down the hall
Like an old gray cat in the winter keepin' close to the wall
And that old time feeling comes stumblin' up the street
Like an old salesman kickin' the papers from his feet..."
