over the weekend I saw a porcupine high in a tree, a bobcat, and a coyote who was favoring it's left leg. poor thing. and a pine grosbeak, several bald eagles, sandhill cranes, turkeys and deer. It's a miracle I haven't driven off the road and right into the ditch watching wildlife. ha ha! Most excellent sightings!

happy Monday to all of you very talented and hard working runners/pacers! great job this weekend to all of you. xo

Long first day orientation at the new job followed by groceries & other errands. Needed a few miles to clear my head. Just went out to explore and ended up running uphill for a mile getting steeper along the way. Found out there are some dirt trails really close. Unfortunately they are closed right now due to recent rain.

Awesome reports from the Lincoln runners (and other racers)! So motivating to hear your good attitudes and tolerance to precipitation.

It was a such a lovely day so I was very disappointed when this was such an "off" run. I wanted to push the pace but I felt way too fatigued almost from the start. I went down 13th and then over the south omaha bridge, maybe the hills took it out of me? But I was light headed by the time I got back to I-80 and backed off considerably. I took a water/blackjack break at Harrah's but still struggled getting back to the office. I think it's a nutrition thing.

On the very bright side, I saw Edie's Eagle!

Super Easy with Matt. Up and down Hwy 2. Not one bit of trash on the path. Everything looked so nice and clean. So proud of our city with the support and excellent work yesterday. Now that I've been going to more races, it's easy to see we put on one of the best shows around.

Super impressed with all the performances. So good.
I was very proud to be a pacer and share in the happiness people felt meeting their goals. Really good stuff. :)

A little stiff, sore and tired. Start of Week 7. With 7 weeks to go. Just around the corner.

Have a great Monday.

Been sick since Wednesday. Felt ok this morning. Congrats to all the racers this weekend! Some fantastic results were posted.

As for my running issues, this all came to a head at last year's Lincoln Marathon. I met with my orthopedic doctor last week and he effectively told me he no longer thinks my stress fracture is or has been the cause of my hip pain. I have some structural issues with the shape of my hip joint and he thinks there is some structural damage that's not showing up via MRI. The temporary solution is a cortisone shot. If that provides relief, I would need surgery. I left the meeting thinking he was mistaken, and that my stress fracture was real and causing my discomfort. Unfortunately, this run told me otherwise. it was not great despite not running for a week and leaves soreness radiating inside my inner leg. So I'm not going to be running in the near future. Not sure how I'm going to stay motivated moving forward, but I'll manage.

In other news, I purchased a new indoor bike trainer that measures power, cadence, and mph. Pretty neat, really. I rode for an hour this morning and did 21 miles with an average wattage of ~170. Interesting metric. Maybe I'll become a cyclist now; that would make my doctor happy :(
  • getfuzzy getfuzzy so sorry about your news. I feel sad and understand your disappointment. keep doing what your doing...one day at a time.

Easy run to get going. I have a couple small workouts to do this week so I decided to get one over with today. 3 x 3 min on/off. Felt tight on the first one. Loosened up on the 2nd and fairly strong on the 3rd. Just as I hoped it would be.

Congrats to all the racers yesterday! I was very inspired by all the performances. I am definitely running Lincoln next year!
